About the Artist: Consuelo Gónima

Consuelo Gónima is recognized by many art connoisseurs as one of the greatest porcelain artists of today for her unique style. Many of her works are known by those who are familiar with the catalogs and collections of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. During the nine years she lived there, she was contracted by the Smithsonian to paint reproductions of their collection to be sold in their shops and catalogs. The result of that work is now seen in fine collections everywhere. Due to her husband's international career, she had the opportunity to study her art with some of the best contemporary china painters of the world. They include china painters from Holland, Switzerland, Brazil and the US. Her art touches almost all areas of life and is found in large vases and other china pieces including lamps, thimbles, chess and backgammon boards, tiles and innumerable variety of pieces.

Consuelo’s commissioned work is now displayed permanently on large mosaics and other fixtures in the US and many  Latin American countries. Her largest commission includes a colorful 12ft. by 6ft. mural that celebrates global diversity and the mission of Light One Candle Children’s Education Fund. The mural is the focal point of the entry lobby of the new David Christopher Goldsbury Center for Children and Families, an annex of the Christus Santa Rosa Children Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
